Amplified Speakers

I recently purchased my first SB3 and I am very pleased with it, so much so I am going to purchase another to go in the bedroom. I want a fairly simple setup so I was thinking of using a direct connection to some amplified speakers, I read somewhere in the forum that Audioengine A5's are good for this. I live in Western Australia and have found it difficult to find somewhere that stocks these speakers, Logitech recommended the Z-5500 5.1 digital speaker system, but from what I have read these speakers are great for gaming and DVD's but not so great for music. Does anybody have any recommendations or comments on Logitech's recommendation

Sorry, no idea how much that is! (Hint: it might be painful, but USD seems to be the de facto universal currency!).

AUD500 would easily buy pretty good Active speakers such as Edirol MA-15D's (In Kiwi $ these are 399 list but they can be found for 339, so they should be less than that for you) - I have several sets from this range and they work really for the situation you describe.

If you want something a bit more stylish, consider the Swan S200A's, or one of their other powered speakers. I would think they would be available in Australia.
