Strictly speaking, the TP was joint 2nd place with devices like the Naim CD555 and the Nagra CDP CD players.

I just read the paper magazine, and the way I read it, the Transporter
was a runner up in the global product of the year category, with no
discussion of relative ranking.
It was a runner up in the 'digital source' category, with discussion
what it was solidly number 2 behind the winner.

Kind of ironic that the 2007 Editor's Choice is the hi-rez downloads from Linn Records and MusicGiants and, as John Atkinson notes, the TP chokes on 88.2Khz sample rates
