    SB3 + Lite DAC60 vs Transporter

Hi All, I have a SB3 hooked up to a Lite DAC 60 which in turn connects to a Meridian 551 amp - can I expect any improvement by replacing the SB3/DAC combination with a Transporter ?

    Opinion or Fact

Are you looking for opinion or fact? The Transporter is an upgrade over the SB3. How good is the DAC that you have is IMO more to the point?

I have what I consider a good DAC, the Dodson DA-217 MKII-D, and it is a very noticeable system improvement to go SB3 to Dodson to Pre-Amp (VTL TL-6.5 Signature) versus an SB3. I would have to lean toward the Transporter XLR balanced out to Pre-Amp as my main choice. Maybe its less connections, but it seems to be better overall. But not saying best in all cases. There are some recordings that appear to be more pleasurable Transporter to Dodson to Pre-Amp. This might be due solely to the recorded material and the quality of said recording which is then upsampled to 24/96KHz then oversampled eight times (24/768) by the Dodson with possible improving/compensating.

Checking some of the other posts on the forum, the Transporter is getting the nod over the SB3/Lite 60. But it is close and mostly likely coming down to listener preference. The combo is definitely more cost effective.
