    Logitech same as SD?

I see that the Squeezebox now is called Logitech instead of Slim Devices, but it is the same product and everything on this page can be used no matter if it is called Slim Devices or Logitech?

Yes, that is correct. Logitech is simply a branding change; the
hardware and software is the same in all other respects.

I just bought my first Squeezebox from Amazon and received it yesterday. I fully expected it to say "Logitech," but instead it came with SlimDevices printed on the unit. I have nothing against Logitech, but since I always pull for the "little guy," I'd rather have a "SlimDevices box."

Those stopped long before the logitech branding, I believe. It was fairly common for SD to pack something extra into the boxes of new products but on a 'while supplies last' basis.

Of course, beginners have no clue what you are talking about.

So here is my version of history.

Long ago, folks would ask for this feature or that, and some would be implemented. Some were pretty outlandish, and were rejected. Which made some folks ask for ever more impossible stuff. Then some wise guy said "next, they'll ask for a pony" which led to far more stuff.

For a while, SlimDevices got into the joke, and included a small toy pony in the box with your SqueezeBox. Now, they are collector's items.

There was a "pony thing" over at the TiVo forums back when we were the cool few who had TiVos (1999 and 2000) before EVERYBODY bought a TiVo (pfarrell .. weren't you a member over there, because your handle seems familiar?)

After the first TiVo super-moderator started the pony thing over there, he left to go work at a competitor. TiVo then actually promoted a guy to be the new moderator -- a guy whose last name happened to include the word "pony" (or maybe it was "poni").
