how do I "block" AAC files from slim server?

    Hi

I did a search but couldn't locate the exact answer, so apologies if this has been gone over (and over...)

Using iTunes, I copied my Apple Lossless files into AAC format for using on my iPod.

I have the AAC files ticked in iTunes so they will be the ones that will synch to my iPod, but how do I stop both lots of files being sent to my Slim Server?

Under "Basic Settings", I selected "File Types" and then under "Disabled Audio File Extensions" I put "AAC", but I'm still getting doubles of all files on the Slimserver.

Is there a way can select the "unchecked songs" only?

    thanks for any help

    David

Home / Server Settings / iTunes / "UNCHECKED SONGS IN ITUNES" - I'm assuming you told SS to use itunes and have left the music folder and playlists fodlers blank, yes?

    thanks...

Yes they are blank, but that selection only has "include all songs" and "don't include unchecked songs"

I actually want it to include "unchecked songs" because the AAC songs are already checked in iTunes so my iPod can sync to them.

Do I have to change which tracks are checked each time I switch between the squeezebox & iPod?

Hmmm, I'm getting confused I suspect!

Ah, I see. This should work...

Set SS to only include checked songs. In iTunes, uncheck the stuff that you want on ipod only.

Then make a smart playlist, to include this stuff to sync to your ipod - maybe put "sync" in the comment field on all such files to help do this, or use the grouping field or something. mp3tag (www.mp3tag.de/en) is a free download for Windows and can do this sort of thing easily en masse, or you can do it from iTunes a little slower!

Make sure "only sync checked items" in your ipod options screen is unchecked. Then set your ipod to automatically sync to the above playlist only, and then (I think) you're done!

Smashing! I hadn't had time to try it either - a good one for future users as well!
