Can I connect directly to speakers and stream radio with my computer off.

2) can stream music/ radio from my laptop to the box then to directly to speakers with no tuner.

3) How do you stream radio with the computer off, Is it from the wireless router?

You would want some sort of amp in there (either external to the speakers, or amplified speakers). Assuming the station is in WMA, MP3 or Ogg, yes, Squeezenetwork will work fine without you having your PC on.

You would still need an amp or amplified speakers. But no radio tuner is needed.

Squeezenetwork, which is basically a multiuser slimserver without any real music of its own. It acts as a sort of supervisor (allowing control functions) and points the SB to various internet radio stations (on its own list, urls you provide, or commercial services like Rhapsody or Pandora).
