Cool Install SlimServer on QNAP TS-109 Pro/ TS-109 (and the coming TS-209)

How to Install SlimServer on QNAP TS-109/TS-209 (Marvell platform)

    Introduction of TS-109 Pro: http://www.qnap.com/pro_detail_feature.asp?p_id=79
    Introduction of TS-109: http://www.qnap.com/pro_detail_feature.asp?p_id=78

    [Before you install]
    === Upgrade TS firmware to V1.1.0 first !!! ===
=== Please disable UPnP media server, due to TwonkyMedia uses port 9000 ===

    [Install]
    1. Upload attached files(slimserver-arm-unicode-1.0.0.tar.gz, slimserver.sh, K01slimserver.sh) to the "Public" share on your TS
    2. Use SSH login to your TS (or use telnet to your TS via port 13131)
    3. Enter the following command: "cd /share/Public"
    4. Make sure the upload script can be executed or enter the following command: "chmod 755 slimserver.sh K01slimserver.sh"
    5. Install SlimServer, enter the following command: "./slimserver.sh install"
    6. After install finish, reboot system
    7. Use port 9000 to do the configuration (see below image)

    [Uninstall]
PS: If you want to unistall SlimServer, enter the following command: "./slimserver.sh uninstall"

    [Change port number]
How to change the port number of SlimServer service?
    1. Use http://IP:9000/ to login SlimServer web administration page
    2. Go to Home/Server Settings/Network
    3. You can change the Web Server Port Number. (then you can have the SlimServer and TwonkyMedia to serve concurrently.)

    [File download]
    1. TS-109's new firmware:
    ftp://telecomkid.dyndns.org/test/TS-109/

    2. SlimServer package for TS-109/TS-209 series (slimserver-arm-unicode-1.0.0.tar.gz, slimserver.sh, K01slimserver.sh)
    ftp://telecomkid.dyndns.org/test/ss/

    [What else you can enjoy?]
QNAP's NAS is "All-in-one NAS server" (FTP Server, Backup Server, File Server, Photo Album, BitTorrent Download Station,...) check these application notes. ftp://telecomkid.dyndns.org/test/app/

Naskid....you are an absolute star!! SO many people have been waiting for this news. QNAP had better ensure they've got enough units to go round!!

    Naskid,

Do you know if there are any plans to provide a similar uninstall function for slimserver on the TS-101/TS-201? Currently the only way to uninstall, and hence repair, slimserver on the TS-101 is to reformat the hard drive and start again from scratch. This is quite a pain and seems a very heavy handed approach to getting slimserver up and running again. It'd be great if this option was available for the older models too

Also, what about the 101's issues (slow performance, heat asf) how does the 109 compare? Which SlimServer version is it?

    SlimServer on the TS-109 Pro

Sorry for the newbie question, but is this installation of SlimServer on the TS-109 Pro going allow additions of plugins such as AlienBBC, etc? Or any other limitations I might want to be wary of?

Out of curiosity - I looked through the slimserver-arm-unicode-1.0.0.tar.gz file. It looks fairly standard so it should be possible for a user to create an update.

Separately, AFAICT there is no AlienBBC plugin and no mplayer so this may have to be added separately and it will probably require a special patched build of mplayer to enable handling of RealAudio streams for the ARM processor
