    Smile Alien BBC on DS207

I have just bought a DS207, and SSODS is working absolutely great (thanks flip flip), but I can't get Alien BBC working. (Firmware 462, and SS 6.3.1, Alien v1.06_6.2-3)

I have searched everywhere, but I can't find anywhere which tells me precisely where to put the slimserver-convert.conf file, and whether the custom-types.conf file is even needed!

I have put the Alien folder in \\diskstation\SlimServer\Plugins and have put the modified slimserver-convert.conf in the Alien folder. I have also tried putting it in \\diskstation\SlimServer\Plugins too, but that doesn't help.

What happens is that I get as far as the station saying 'connecting' and then SlimServer stops on the DS207. I have to manually restart it.

    Any help gratefully received!

Check out flipflip's Squeezebox Server On (some) DiskStation (SSODS) and on (some) TurboStations (SSOTS) and some other devices! Please do NOT file SSODS bugs in (SD's) bugzilla. Use the forums. And only the forums. Thanks.

    what worked for me....

    Hi!

I am far from an expert but I got it to work after a lot of struggling... This is what worked for me and how my ds-207 looks like. If something is wrong and/or not needed please correct me:

There is a 2.18 version of SSODS which I am running:
    http://oinkzwurgl.org/downloads/ssod...s-2.18-ppc.zip

I also updated to the very latest firmware for the DiskStation. (Maybe you will have to mess about with the webinterface after upgrade... please check other posts in the forum for details.)

Make sure you have the correct AlienBBC. This messed up things for me in the past.

The custom-convert.conf file I am using is based on the template that you can find in the ssods folder on your diskstation.

Not sure it needed but I placed it both in /slimserver and in /slimserver/plugins/alien

Stop slimserver. Add Alien and the custom-convert.conf. Restart. Alien should be there.... Open server settings/file types. Uncheck everyting except "rtsp to wav"... it should say mplayer-stdout after....

Reboot Diskstation to make sure everything loads ok....

    Good luck.

    /s

ps Flipflip if you see something wrong please correct me. ds

ps2 I had some problems using slimserver 6.5.4: It is not reading my library and Alien is not working. I guess it has something to do with encoding or? ds2

I don't use AlienBBC, but your suggestions sound good :-)
