    Question SlimServer and network harddisks

    Hi'

I have just installed a network harddisk in order to share all my music files to the rest of my family. The harddisk is installed in a D-Link DNS-323 Network Storage Enclousure.

DNS-323 support - among many things - also UPnP, so it can act like a server for streaming music to "compatible media players".

I would like to avoid to have a PC open with SlimServer running every time, I want to hear music. So if my Squeezebox could access the harddisk in DNS-323 directly without involving SlimServer, that would be great.

Could it potentially be done using the IP-adress for the DNS-323?

Thanks for your feedback on my issue.

    Regards Jesper

You always need a SlimServer machine running somewhere on your network.
