Help,
I've just bought a QNAP TS-201, but have no idea how to get slimserver installed on it.
I'm not over technical so some simple instruction would be great.
Thanks in anticipation (apologies if this is already answered somewhere else in this foram)

How do I uninstall the Progressive version? I have dedicated a full PC as mediaserver where I also run the SqueezeServer (so Version 7.3) which has got several key advantages over the SlimServer 6.5 I have on my TS-201.
Please mind that I am a total Linux n00b, limited to being able to telnet, ls and ./install ;-)

Here's the instructions, and don't forget to back up your data first just in case.
1. Using the command line Telnet into your TS-101/201 using the following command: "telnet xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx 13131" (don't include the quotes) xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx = the IP address of your TS-101/201
2. Login as the administrator (U: administrator P: admin)
3. Enter the following commands:
mkdir /tmp/flash
mount /dev/mtdblock4 /tmp/flash
rm /tmp/flash/autorun.sh
umount /tmp/flash
rebootPlayers: Boom, SB3. iPod Touch w/ iPeng 1.2
Server: QNAP TS-239 w/ SSOTS 3.18, SS 7.3.3, MusicIP 1.8, 8k+ tracks
(formally running SS 6.3.1 on a QNAP TS-101 streaming to a SB1)

Telnet Problems?
Thanks for the speedy response. Still having a few problems...
- Have extracted the install package to the root of the public share.
- Have updated the QNAP firmware to the Telnet version.
- Can now connect to the TS201 with TELNET and enter the administrator username and password.
- When I try and "cd /share/HDA_DATA/Public" I get the message "can't cd to /share/HDA_DATA/Public"?

I don't have a TS-201 myself but shouldn't you be typing cd /share/MD0_DATA/Public if you have two drives installed?

On my 101 you can type cd /share/public and it auto links to the right place.

Telnet Problems?
Ian_F has the right answer for my TS201.
As my NAS has two drives I need to use the command.
cd /share/MD0_DATA/Public
I'g foolishly assumed that as the two drives are set-up as Raid1 I should treat it as one drive. (just goes to show assumptions are dangerous!)

I went through all of the instructions and it did not seem to work on port 9000.. is there anything that would block this? I had no error messages and I have the ubuntu directory now plus music and updates in the public directory. The only thing I can think of that I may have done wrong is put the files in a folder called SlimServer in the public directory before installing. Any ideas on what went wrong.. or any ideas how to start slimserver on the device. I have Qnap ts-201

Now you need to install slimserver
The http://www.progressiveav.com/ts101_u...tall/ts101201/ link gets you through the hoary ubuntu shell install. Now you need to follow the instructions on the package site to install the software you wnat (including slimserver):
Goto: http://www.progressiveav.com/ts101_update/
Note: you don't need to re-install the All-in-one update as it should already be there. Just download your slimserver choice into the public/updates folder and reboot.
Enjoy
