I am very enthusiastic about this! I'm currently making a ogg vorbis "version" of my lossless collection stored on my computer, and plan to upload it to MP3tunes.
I have a couple of requests though.
- The ability to browse music by genre would be nice.
- The settings in OboeSync2 should stick through sessions. Right now it will automatically upload music from my iTunes library, unless I specifically ask it to look elsewhere for the files.
Guess I should take those requests to the MP3tunes forum

OK, I'll put an MP3tunes support question in here, since I don't seem to get any verification email from the MP3tunes forum. Hopefully MP3tunes support will hang around in here for a bit.
My music is stored in my MP3tunes locker in an ogg/vorbis format, yet when I use winamp and the associated media library plug-in, winamp report the files to be mp3 files encoded at 128 kbps. In preferences I have set the streaming quality to "Stream original encoded bit rate". Is this a case of mis-reporting, or are my files transcoded/downsampled? It shouldn't be necessary since my ogg files are not much larger anyway. And how about the music that my Squeezebox receives? Is that the original files, or some on-the-fly transcoded mp3s?

I have no idea what the Winamp plugin does, it's possible it tells
the mp3tunes server to transcode to mp3, which will be 128k. On your
Squeezebox, you'll get the original Ogg file.

Sharmaine from MP3tunes here.... I manually verified your forum account at MP3tunes so you so should be all set there now. The Winamp plugin I believe does transcode files but I'm not positive on that so I'll follow up with my team. Can you go ahead and repost this in our forum so I can get our engineers to take a look. In preferences on the web interface you can choose your streaming method. Smart Stream is selected by default, you can select the original encoding rate there for streaming.

no verification email from MP3tunes forum
I experience the same problem. I registered to the forum using three different email addresses over the last couple of days and no verification email had been received.
My problem is related to wma tags. When I synch up wma files to my locker, most of the artists, albums and songs are not recognized. The wma files seem to be properly tagged and they work fine with other software ( including SlimServer ). However, the locker synch process fails to recognize them. Even popular songs and artists like Pink Floyd.
When I try to edit the tag using the web interface, then I receive error message "The file info could not be saved. Try again later."
Thanks,

AAC support
I know this is a Slimserver Forum but I'll post here anywhere.
I am an MP3Tunes user and was on the beta trial.
There are three things that would make MP3 tunes just perfect for me:
1. Native m4a streaming as all my files are in m4a format and at 128kBpS.
2. Native m4a support in Squeezebox firmware
3. Better support in Oboe Sync for files and folders with unusual characters e.g. it will not up-sync my Pl(a)cido Domingo folders and files
(a) has an acute accenct if you are familiar with French

I have batch verified everyone who was waiting for email verification from MP3tunes. We're looking into the email system now to fix this. Please post all MP3tunes related questions on our forum or submit a ticket to our staff at http://support.mp3tunes.com
Thanks!

What a great service!
Can somebody confirm that after 60 days I will be unable to use mp3tunes with my squeezebox at all unless I upgrade to a premium account? Or have I read it wrong?

I'm guessing that after sixty days your account changes to a free account with a maximum of 1 gig of storage rather than unlimited.
