When I signed in for a locker on Squeezenetwork, I was successful in getting a locker, but it seems to be of the basic type with a limitation of 10MBytes per file. However, Squeezenetowk users should be given a 60 days trial of the premium service. Why didn't I get a premium account?

Yep, me too. I carefully left my Mac running with OboeSync to upload all my music and came back 12 hours later to find everything had stopped when I reached the basic account limit. I don't aactually mind too much - $40 doesn't seem much to pay for an online backup of all my music but I'm now finding that OboeSync is taking an eternity to run and I have also noticed that all lossless files in my collection are being ignored. So, nice idea but it seems as though there are still some wrinkles to iron out...

Allow me to clear up some confusion regarding the 60 day trial.
Access to an MP3tunes locker via the SqueezeNetwork is available only to Premium lockers. If you do not have a Premium locker, you have 60 days to try out using a Squeezebox (or Transporter) to play music from your locker. After 60 days, if you are still using the free locker, you will no longer have access to music in your locker via the SqueezeNetwork. Note that this does not effect your locker access in general. Everything you added to your locker will still be there, and you can still stream from the web, sync down, etc.
If you have a free locker with a 1GB limit, you are in the queue to be upgraded to a free unlimited locker. This does not effect the 60 day trial access via SqueezeNetwork. I'll look into what I can do to upgrade anyone with a 1GB free locker to unlimited if the locker is being accessed from the SqueezeNetwork. No promises, though.
If you upgrade to a Premium locker, you get unlimted storage and unlimited access via SqueezeNetwork.
Lossless files are not currently supported in a locker, either free or Premium.
So dazbarber, you are correct -- after 60 days you will be unable to access your locker with your Squeezebox unless you upgrade to premium.
sbjaerum, krita and Jungle -- Sorry, but the 60 day trial is for access to a free locker using your Squeezebox. It is not a 60 day trial for a Premium locker.
Hope that clears things up.

Thanks Doug,
this makes things clear for me. I got the idea that the 60days trial would give immediate access to an unlimited sized locker for the SN users. Let's hope the unlimited account will be granted before my 60 trial days are over :-)
It is a great service!

Thanks for clarification Doug.
May be the text on the Squeezenetwork homepage should be changed. There it is stated:
"SqueezeNetwork users: Get a 60-day free trial Premium Music Locker - Sign up now!"
It is Premium in the sense that it is accessible from a Squeezebox, but not Premium when it comes to storage limitations.
Anyway, I like mp3tunes.

Comparison with plain Slimeserver
Hello,
Please, excuse my poor English...
Since I am still hesitating between SqueezeNetwork+MP3Tunes and a regular SlimServer on a low-power mini-itx board, I would like to get a list of the differences between the two. For instance there is no search functionality using SqueezeNetwork (but "Coming soon" is displayed...). Another example is that I cannot fast forward using SqueezeNetwork+MP3Tunes. No browsing based on genre. What else and what are the plans?
And more generally the differences between Squeezenetwork and Slimserver. The options are very limited for now (behaviour setting aso), but are there any plans to catch up with Slimserver?
Thanks!Last edited by el_rico; 2007-05-01 at 13:40. Reason: question extended

Hey Gang,
Apparently, some of the confusion here was on our end. Although the 60 day trial is still not a true Premium account, you will now have access to features only available in the Premium account during the trial. You can add files up to 50MB and you are fast tracked to unlimited storage. At the end of the 60 day trial, if you have not upgraded to a Premium account, your account will become a regular free account, with the 10MB file size limit, upgrade notices, etc.
Sorry for the confusion this may have caused. Let me know if you have any questions.

Select and play one song
I'm browsing music in my locker. I find one song that I'd like to play. Push "play" on the remote. -> The entire album gets loaded into my playlist. How can I change this so it plays only one song?
