Hi,
I'm trying to install just Softsqueeze on an old laptop to basically use as a psuedo-Squeezebox. I don't have Slimserver installed on the laptop.
I followed the instructions on the Squeezebox homepage and just unzipped it and tried to fire up the Softsqueeze.jar file.
no luck i got the box shown in the attached screenshot.
any help for this linux n00b? Thanks.

May want to try firing up Softsqueeze instead by loading the SlimServer webpage remotely then selecting Help - Softsqueeze. That usually has all the required files and works OK.
Do you have Java installed? Search for Java in the Synaptic Package Manager.
BTW the text in the screenshot is too small to be readable - looks like it's missing files/libraries.

Make sure you have installed Sun version of Java, other Java implementations don't include all the necessary packages that softsqueeze requires (like the audio package).

Sorry about the small text, yes it is missing libraries.
I will try both of your suggestions and let you know how it goes.
Thanks!
