How is the progess on slimserver 7.0 ?
Is most of the functionality already implemented or is there still a lot of work left ?
How far away is the 7.0 release date ?
Are we talking about maybe 3 months, 6 months, a year or 2 years ?
I know I am not going to get an official statement on a release date, I just want a guess from someone that knows a bit more than me about the current status and whats left to do.
I'm asking this because I would like to hold on making the neccesary changes to my plugins until the last minute, but I feel that it would be a good idea to start maybe 1-3 months before the release to make sure the plugins are ready to use with 7.0 at the release date. The reason I want to do the work as late as possible is because the changes feels to big to provide a plugin version compatible with both a 6.5 and 7.0. I would also like to keep providing new functions for 6.5 as long as 6.5 is the latest official release, mostly because I will probably be using 6.5 in my own living room until 7.0 is officially released.

SlimDevices usually had a new product for every christmas. I'd therefore
guess we have a maximum of 9 months left ;-)

I'd recommend you start with one plugin to get a feeling for the changes.
As the interface might change over the next weeks/months you can play with
this one sample plugin.

That's right. But while the changes to the settings related code may
require quite some work, the plugin's main code doesn't need that much
changes. Last night I migrated AlbumReview (less settings) and
StringEditor in well less than 1 hour. Functionality isn't touched at all.
It's mainly the initialization code which is re-organized.
