    A better looking remote control?

My only design-complaint about the Squeezebox is the remote. It simply does not stand up to the rest of the excellent design.

So - what to do? I do not need a multi-remote, but I would like a nicer looking remote at my desk. The ultimate solution would be a way to use a B&O remote itself, but if that's not an option, I'd like some input to which (good-looking) stand-alone remote I should look out for.

    Kind regards

P.S. for those who do not know B&O and their remotes, check out http://www.bang-olufsen.com/page.asp?id=198

Have you seen the new remote?

Have you seen the "candy bar" remote?

A backlit version is available for sale

but the current Squeezeboxes seem to come with a version that is not backlit.

The remote needs more buttons; some of the operations are not intuitive if you haven't studied the owner's manual:

    1. Hitting the "+" to delete a song from the playlist is not intuitive. Holding down the "+" button to zap a song is not intuitive.

    2. Holding down "pause" to stop is also not intuitive.

    3. Holding down the "play" button to save the playlist is not intuitive.

    4. There should also be a button to "add to favorites" instead of having to do extensive scrolling to do this.

    5. Holding down the "brightness" button to install firmware is not intuitive.

    6. Holding down the "left" button to return to setup is not intuitive.

It's great to have an uncluttered remote, but I think the SlimServer remote errs on the side of too few buttons.

    My opinions, anyway...

Surely you are not asking for a dedicated 'firmware update' button which might be used three or four times a year? That particular function doesn't need to be intuitive, nor does one need to read the manual as there's usually a big clue on the Squeezebox display.

You are correct. There is no need for a separate button for this feature. The display offers guidance in this case.

Still looking for a nice remote...

    Hi all,

Agreed that the SqueezeBox remote (whatever model) is kinda not suited for all of your everyday operations. But I can live with it.

What I really hate is the design of the thing (whatever model). It just doesn't match the Squeezebox itself.

I am willing to pay for a nice remote as an option. I accept that it's not a dedicated SB remote. Is there perhaps a great-looking universal remotes (the Logitech one, perhaps), that has been tested with the SB and found adequate (buttoms etc. match the needs)?

Looking forward to receive your input + links if possible.

    Kind regards

    = iPod Touch / iPhone

I found the ultimate remote...now providing all the feedbackI can to the author of the cool iPeng skin, to actually make it useful for everyday use.

    /S.
