During a post work beer this evening the discussion drifted onto "what albums would you take to a desert island?"
Without having to think I said:
1. The Songs of Leonard Cohen - an album I can honestly say that I have played near enough every week since I discovered it at the age of 14 back in 1981
2. Morrison Hotel by The Doors - I still get excited every time I listen to a Doors album, doesn’t matter which one
3. Gladsome, Humour and Blue by Martin Stephenson and the Daintees - just a beautiful album
I just wondered which category below other people were in:
1. that’s easy, its x,y,z
2. ooo, I'll have to think about that

Type 2 here.
Both Pink Floyd- Meddle and Jerry Garcia and David Grisman- Jerry Garcia and David Grisman, are reflex responses.
The third would be tougher. Probably either a classic Jazz or Ambient album, but I'd have a hard time picking.

Type 3 here: my desert island disc would be a 750G drive... I have a short attention span and get bored easily. (See, you should have said "CD" not disc....)

I'm type 1 with two or fewer discs, type 2 with more. The question seems to imply three.
1. Pink Floyd - Meddle
2. Stevie Wonder - Innervisions
...only THREE?!?!?
At this point I would flip a coin:
Heads: Dave Brubeck Quartet - Live at Carnegie Hall (2 disc set, am I cheating?)
Tails: Mississippi John Hurt - 1928 Sessions
Lands on its Side/Rolls Away: Robyn Hitchcock - I Often Dream of TrainsLast edited by CatBus; 2007-02-02 at 19:15.

Um, whatever's most recent in my collection? I do get bored, no matter
how masterful the album. Still, here's some:
XTC, Skylarking
Billy Bragg, Back to Basics
Robyn Hitchcock & The Egyptians, Globe of Frogs
They Might Be Giants, John Henry
Neutral Milk Hotel, In The Aeroplane Over The Sea

Wholly Humble Heart - I loved that track. Will buy the album now I'm reminded of it (although it looks like I'll have to get it used - deleted?)
Van Morrison - Astral Weeks
Talk Talk - Spirit of Eden
Can I take the ten-disk box set of Beethoven's String Quartets by Quartetto Italiano?

MMMM, easy
Kirk Lorange - No Apostrophe
Gerry Rafferty - Night Owl
Lloyd Cole - Lloyd Cole
That wasn't so hard...mind you, there would have to be plenty of shiraz grapes growing nearby...and my book on vitculture handy, and my childhood sweetheart on the same island. She has her own 3 discs to choose as well, right?Last edited by peejay; 2007-02-09 at 21:56.
