Slimserver Problems on Fedora w/ library from itunes

Hi all. First off just got the Squeezebox and it rocks. No let me explain
    what I'm trying to do.

I currently have about 100Gigs of Music in itunes. I can run slimserver on
my mac, and it works, however it's a bit slow. Because my mac is a laptop
and I can't have it always in the house, I built a dedicated server for mp3
storage. The hardware I used was a mini-itx board and a 200gb drive for
storage, the mini-itx has 1gb of ram.

On my mac, I use an external firewire drive formated w/ ufs as my mp3
volume. I mounted the ufs drive on the mini-itx and rsynced all the data
to the 200gb volume. Forgot to add that the mini-itx is running fedora
release one. After the copy, I can mount the volume via nfs and play the
mp3s in itunes no problem. However, when I try to play the mp3s from the
squeezebox, I only get chirps and sqeeks. No music at all.

Couple things I did notice, the slimserver pegs the processor to about 92%
utilization when running. Does the slim server need to have any specify
file permissions on the mp3 files, the slim server is running as root, and
root is the owner. All the files are set as rwx for the root user.

My goal is to manage the mp3s via itunes and rsync the changes to the
dedicated mp3 server. Ultimately I want to have multiple slimp3/squeezboxes
to do whole house audio distrobution. The mp3 server will only be used for
    running the slimserver software.

Should I change the linux distro I'm using? Is it the hardware platform
that's causing the problem? Like I said earlier, I can run the slim
slimserver on my mac and it runs "ok". I have had issues w/ the ufs volume
dropping off due to a bad firewire cable and am looking to upgrade that
volume to an hfs+ volume once my mini-itx is working properly and I can
ensure that the data is safe.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Pp

Another thing to add. I did get it working via a software client. I.e.
Streaming to itunes and winamp on different machines.

Squeezebox won't work with slimserver running on linux---HELP

So I'm still having problems. Here's more info for anyone who cares. If I
run the slim server on my mac the squeezbox works. Just for giggles I
actually mounted the nfs volume w/ the mp3s from my linux box as the root of
my itunes library and it also worked. However the squeezebox will not work
if I set it to use the linux box. Software clients work with either one.

    Any ideas?

    Squeezbox Firmware issues

So I'm getting closer. Apparently it has to do with the firmware supplied
with linux rpm. When I connect to the linux box, it dl's a new firmware and
vice versa for the mac. I copied the firmware files off of the mac and put
them on the linux box and it worked... Couple of things 1. The version of
the firmware that my mac tells me the squeezbox has is 4 the linux box was
telling me 5 before I put 4 there. Is version 5 of the firmware for the
squeezebox supposed to work? Also In my attempts to try to get it to work
I switched to using the coax digital out. I would like to switch back to
the rca outs however they don't appear to work now. I had to steal the
digital from another device on my stero. Any ideas?
