Just to make people aware - you will have seen my posts about the various problems I had with the QNAP101 - basically, I was mis-sold it as it WONT access music held on an external NAS. Despite numerous patches sent through from Paul at Progressive AV / Cooltopia it still wouldnt perform as expected.
I was given an RMA authorisation and returned the product over a month ago. No refund has been received. Progressive are not returning my calls.
I am giving them a week in the new year to return my money, else I will be taking legal action. Just wanted to make people aware of the problems I have had - and am still having.

QNAP Beware

You have my sympathies Iangude, none of us likes this kind of thing to happen. I would have hoped for much better service than this from a small company compared to a large one.
I hope you can or have found a better solution for your squeezebox.

Personally I never expected perfection from my TS-101. After considering the options I don't think there is any perfect solution.
I don't want to have to start up a computer everytime I want to listen to my music, and I don't want to end up running one 24/7 either.
That makes NAS the only real option, and not wanting to do any hacking to get it working, the progressive solution seemed the best option, at least for the time being. I know it lacks memory, processing power and flexibility, but at least it does an acceptable job of playing back my music.
If it ends up becomming obsolite, then I'm not too bothered. Most computer equipment becommes obsolete after a few years. Perhaps in a few years somebody will come up with something designed from the ground up, with SlimServer in mind. Perhaps now that Logitec have baught up SlimDevices they they might like to come up with something.
Are you listening Logitec!!
Richard Evans.
