Not necessarily: if you post the information requested we might find a
solution to your problem. Maybe it's one kind of tag that could easily be
fixed, or some special character in a file name or whatever. If you just
remove the files, you get rid of the symptoms, but don't fix the problem.

If you don't have any slim device... But the problems won't be fixed if we
can't have any information about it.

ok. have finally managed to scan through my entire music collection with success. have had to remove a few albums temporarily.
i've noticed that some of the tags are different in the sb3 and in my tagging app - can someone recommend a tagging app that is compatible with slimserver ? when i look at the genre of some tracks they are showing up as completely different genres in slimserver. confused.
thanks for your assistance guys.

Helium and ID3-TagIT
Get Helium Music Manager. I looked and looked and looked.
This is by far the best app I could ever wish to find. Worth every single penny

Look in particular at the part discussing the plugins. Finally a consistent semi-automated information retrieval platform implementation. You get tag and album info from CDDB/Gracenote, FreeDB, Amazon (different countries) and others. Priceless, and moreover it really works very very very well.
On the other hand consider also (simpler, but also effective)
ID3-TagIt (http://www.id3-tagit.de/english/index.htm). Used to be my favourite...

thanks for your help guys. i have finally managed to get most of my tracks onto slimserver but there are a lot of random tracks missing which is driving me nuts.
i'm using mp3tag v2.37a and all of my tags are v2.3.
i've run a scan and checked the log but there doesn't seem to be any useful information there.
any ideas ?
thanks in advance
