USB drive connected to Qnap - cannot edit or write

I have attached an external drive to my Qnap to back up my library and other data but no matter what I do I am not able to edit or delete files, or even write to it. I can only read and copy from the drive. I have tried setting the share to 'everyone (full access)' but still can't get write access. Does anyone know how to do this? The drive works fine when directly attached to a computer and I'm sure I have been able to do this in the past...

If the drive is NTFS formatted - most NAS's will only treat NTFS drives as readonly.

Ah! Yes, that'll be it. I must have reformatted at some point. Thanks bpa...
