    Telnet to DS106e

    Hi

    Im new at this:-)

First, im not interested in altering the orinal firmware more than necessary but i would like to connect to the DS106e through telnet with root rights.

So i would like to know; Can the "hack" --> http://oinkzwurgl.org/software/ssods...-telnet-r2.zip
    do the trick?

This is just to be sure cause as said before im new at this:-)

    Do you mean this guide?
    http://www.nslu2-linux.org/wiki/DS101/EnableTelnet

I have seen it, but nothing makes me sure that it works with the DS106e

Yes (as the README.txt inside says..). And as it is written on http://www.nslu2-linux.org/wiki/DS101/EnableTelnet.
Check out flipflip's Squeezebox Server On (some) DiskStation (SSODS) and on (some) TurboStations (SSOTS) and some other devices! Please do NOT file SSODS bugs in (SD's) bugzilla. Use the forums. And only the forums. Thanks.

I will try this when i get home.

Another question: Have this been testet with the new beta firmware from synology?
    http://www.synology.com/enu/support/..._Oct_06_01.php

I dont have a clue if the firmware version have anything to do with this hack to work or not, therefore this question:-)

No it has not been tested. But it works with *all* firmware revisions, no matter how old or how new. If it doesn't, then the patch fails without doing something (as described in README.txt).

Btw, do not install beta firmwares as you will not be able to downgrade back to the old stable version. Also "stable" releases of the firmware are rather "beta". So I wouldn't try a beta beta version :-)

    Okay:-)
I'll not upgrade to the beta firmware then.
