Please help: lost all music after rescan

I have a Qnap which has worked great, Just added some music and did a rescan and now slimserver is telling me I have no music in my music library. I'm a beginner so it's probably a basic problem to solve! thanks

    Hi

In the slimserver Web UserInterface, Go to Settings/server settings and check that your music folder is specified. This tells Slimserver wich directory to look in during a scan

    Thanks for the reply

Thanks I have tried that but get this message,
Oops - "\\Slimserver-01\public\music" doesn't seem to be a valid directory. Try again.

am I telling it to look in the wrong place? this is where my music is stored on the Qnap

    Type in "/ext/mnt/music"

I have a similar problem - i've just set up the qnap and squeezebox but the slim server can't see any music.

i do have /ext/mnt/music set as the music folder - this is the "music" network share i created via qnap admin page right? If i look at the folder from windows or via the qnap web file manager interface i can see the album subfolders and open mp3's.

Apparently the Qnap should come preset with some shares already created but this doesn't seem to be the case.

fixed it - i didn't realise i had to point my music share at the existing public/music dir. The documentation doesn't appear to mention this anywhere - i guess this is specific to the slimserver install so i wouldn't expect to see it in the qnap docs, but some extra docs on the slimserver setup might have helped.

I'm sorry to be a bit thick! I have put /ext/mnt/music in the music folder but when I scan for new music it still doesn't find my music on the Qnap. What did you mean by this (i didn't realise i had to point my music share at the existing public/music dir) as I think I have the same problem.

    Thanks
