    Can't connect to Squeezenetwork

For those of you having issues connecting to SqueezeNetwork - a few questions
as we try to narrow down the issues:

Are you using a DHCP address or static address?

If using DHCP, when you power cycle the SB, does it time out when getting a
DHCP address, then grab a 'self-assigned' address?

    Thanks.

Do you mean during the times we cannot connect to SN?

Anyway, SN works for me right now, but I don't think there is any difference when powercycling when SN works or not. I use dhcp and I think that it has worked, without timeout, every time I've done it, including when SN fails.

    Yes, I use DHCP.

Whenever I've disconnected power from my SB3 to reclaim it from it's apparent locked-up attempt to connect to SN. When I re-connect power, the SB3 is able to grab its address assignment from my DHCP server within a couple of seconds.
Really, it was like that when I got here.

I can't think of a good reason for any home user to use DHCP. In general, it seems like it does nothing but cause problems. Why not just set static IPs and be done with it?

I've had a home network for 14 years and it's never cause a problem for me.
Really, it was like that when I got here.

I guess I look at it like this: if you're having networking issues, assigning static IPs removes a variable from the equation.

I completely agree. And I have disabled DHCP from time to time while troubleshooting network problems over the years. In my case, I've never had a problem that could be traced to the use of DHCP.

    "me too"...

After having friends over this weekend (18th & 19th Nov), and a rather untimely death of my PC's PSU, I had to resort to SqueezeNetwork for the background tunes..
I don't usually use SN for long periods of time, but in the past have had no problems. ALL weekend SN displayed the problems described so perfectly here already (font change, blank screen, no remote action etc)!
I have a stable (non plusnet) ADSL connection, using static IP addresses and have 6.5 loaded on my local server (when its alive!) with the accompanying firmware.
To me, something is definately wrong at the SN end....
    Just my 2 pence.
Anything we can do to help pin-point this?

    Nic

PS: despite the "flaws" the SB3 managed to sell itself to the visitors, lets just make it work for them...?!

    Thats my only complaint

I use DHCP, and have everything on automatic setting. My wireless SB3 works great, but periodic lack of connections to Squeezenet or Slimserver take lots of my time and aggravate me when you spend hours poking at it, and its some network problem with the provider all along.
Now my Slimserver doesnt display in the sys tray, but works..
Now I cant connect to Squeezenet, but playing internet radio on slimserver works..
Like everybody said previously, worked yesterday, now not.
I hope I'm learning something to resolve my end of it finally.
    Thanks for everybodys assistance.

SN Flakey for past week or so

I've been having trouble linking to SN for the past week or so. Just tried it today and again I was unable to get anything but date and time. I'm not sure if I'm logged in or not. Remote doesn't respond. I have to hold down the left arrow button and then reconnect to my slimserver.

I'm on Verizon's Fios network. Rock solid 15mbs down/2 mbs up.

Hope this can be fixed soon. I also wish the powers that be would pick other times to do maintenance. It always seems to go down at 2pm est on either Saturday or Sunday which is the exact time I like to listen to Leo Laporte on KFI-AM.

    Thanks.
