    softsqueeze and squeezenetwork

just upgraded the slimserver softward which I use at work to the newly released 6.5.0 .. as a result I have upgraded from softsqueeze 2.0 to 3.0....

for some reason the player (softsqueeze) no longer connects to Squeezenetwork....

My Squeezenetwork players on the web still has the old work player listed.. albeit with a different MAC address to the new version of softsqueeze which I am running....

looked in the Info settings for a new softsqueeze/player PIN to sign up the new player but cant find the info.. has this feature been removed in softqueeze 3.0 of alternatively has the ability of softqueeze connecting to SN been removed as a part of the update?

    I've been getting this too....

While it says 'Connecting to Squeezenetwork...', try changing the skin display style.
It does actually connect, just the display is not updating.

    Softsqueeze won't Connect

I have exactly the same problem with Softsqueeze 3. Looks like a bug.

I was using skin style 'squeezebox smalll' and changed it to 'SB3 small', seemed to clear the 'blockage'

I tried SB3 small without success; but transporter skin worked.

Once I had registered, I could use the other skins OK

    Bug in Softsqueeze 3

Have tested out connections... and it is a bug.

The only skin in Softsqueeze 3 which allows you to establish a connection to SqueezeNetwork is the old squeezebox skin.

You cannot establish a connection to SN by using the new SB3 or Transproter skins. If you try to do so it simply hangs and is unresponsive.

However once connected to SN via the original skin you can change to either of the new skins (SB3 or Transporter) ... but then if you try to sign off from SN using these new skins it will hang.

I have posted the following bug

    Catch 22

I can't connect to SN regardless of the skin combinations I use! The classic "Catch 22": I can't log on because my SQ is not registered, but I can't register until I log on to get a PIN to register. How could such an obvious flaw been overlooked in this upgrade!!?? Oh, well, it is free after all....

I think that they may have been doing some work on SN today which has slowed some stuff down .. but when going thru the process on my home PC just now I found that if you tried change the skin from original to something else during the sign on it helped push along the connecting and PIN registration process

minor bugs like this to be expected I guess

all in all I am loving all the changes with the new releases ... great work by all contributors!
