Just thought I'd post here to say that I've just released flactag v1.0.

Thanks to all that have tried the software thus far and provided comments and suggestions. No real changes between the last RC and this one.

As usual, it can be found here.

I've started working on v1.1. The main new features so far are:

    * Use the latest MusicBrainz library (the old one is now deprecated)
    * Support storing cover art in the 'PICTURE' block of the FLAC file, not as a tag.

    Hi all,

I've just release v1.1 of flactag. I'm in the process of getting a Debian package ready for it too.

    Main changes since v1.0:

Support for latest version of MusicBrainz library
Cover art now stored in PICTURE block rather than tags
Switch to libneon for downloading cover art
    New '--overwrite-existing' option when renaming
    Various bug fixes

Any comments welcome. As always, the software is available here.

    Thanks

    MusicBrainz broke Flactag

    Andy,
It looks as though Musicbrainz has changed the way multiple disc sets are handled.
When I now attempt to tag one disc of a multiple disc set, MB returns the tracklisting for *all* of the discs in a set, as though it were one release.

Example: The Who - Tommy (Deluxe Edition)
Attempting to tag disc one (25 tracks) returns 42 tracks.

Thank you again for a wonderful tagger.

It's in hand. I've been heavily involved in rewriting the libmusicbrainz
library to support the new service there. [1] I've also done the
appropriate work in flactag, and once libmb4 is stable I'll release an
    updated version of flactag.

In the meantime you can download and install libmb4, and check out the
branch I'm doing the flactag work in [2].

Always happy to hear suggestions or comments.

Great news. Flactag is one of the applications that keeps me from throwing in the towel and breaking my easy-to-maintain collection into individual tracks.
I will start testing this weekend.

Now if only somebody could hack mp3fs to read flac archives... (my wife has an iPod)

Thanks for the feedback, good to know it's useful.

    Andy,
New version is working great. Every once in a while, I *do* get an error that says "Unrecognised artist element 'ipi'" or something similar.

One album this happened on was Eric Clapton's "Unplugged."

You need a new version of libmb4. We're on Beta 2 I think. I expect to
release the 'full' version sometime soon, closely followed (hopefully) by an
    updated release of flactag.

    flactag v2.0.1 released

I am pleased to announce the release of flactag v2.0.1. Flactag is a tagger
for whole-CD FLAC files with embedded CUE sheets, using data retrieved from
    the MusicBrainz service.

This release provides support for the new 'NGS' web service at MusicBrainz.
I am also happy to welcome Daniel Pocock to the project. Daniel has modified
the build system to use autotools, as well as providing fixes and general
support during the development of this version.

The software is available to download via SourceForge:

    http://flactag.sourceforge.net.

Full source is available via a git repository, also hosted at SourceForge.

    git://flactag.git.sourceforge.net/gitroot/flactag/flactag

The checksums of the file are as follows:

    MD5: 9d18ec8c7463792ed36d55218a83371f
    SHA224: c622ee35dbd4d2c2f4ea3c7ff6816a39bd5788d8893189d9f3 3ffaf3

This release is tagged in the git repository as '2.0.1'. The commit ID is

    6b6db05bf5737c30e63d2074467a7c02e53c23c0

I trust that you will find flactag a useful tool.

    Thanks

    Andy Hawkins
