    Info from freedb automatically

    Hi guys,
I could almost swear that the first couple of time when I installed and configured EAC, I would get the infor from freedb automatically as soon as I put in the CD.
Now it seems that I have to go through the manual operation of choosing Tool/Get Info from freedb , in order to get the goodies.

No big deal, but at the pace that I intend to rip my collection, I want to avoid ANY manual readjust.

    Any ideas?
While at it, is there an auto way to fix replay gain as well, without haviong to do it separately as a 1-2 step rip- add replay gain

    Thanks

On EAC Options / General ... have you selected "automatically access online freedb database" ?

Also, if you haven't already, you might want to search for recent post on switching to freedb2..

If you're encoding to FLAC specify "--replay-gain" in the encoder arguments.

I believe this will only do track gain though, no album gain. I could be wrong as I never use album gain but this comment always comes up when I say this.

That's correct that the --replay-gain option on the flac encoder only does track gain. If you want to do album gain, you need to do it in a separate step. I usually do it with Robin Bowes' apply_replaygain.pl script, although it can also be done in foobar2000, and probably some other software.
