Greetings everyone... I just wanted to show off the project I just finished.
I decided to modify a Beosound 2000 and add wireless MP3/Webcasting.
The Beosound 2000 is a great unit, and very elegant, but the tape deck is really an outdated item. I decided to remove the entire tape module, and replace it with a more advanced component.
The mod took me about 2-3 hours. I had to make a custom bracket, faceplate and also cut away a small portion of the plastic housing behind the tape unit, to get the wireless module to fit. With everything reinstalled, you can't see anything that was done inside the case.
I decided to hardwire the outputs from the wireless module to the Aux input on the Beo. I wanted this to be as OEM looking as possible. The only major problem I ran into was powering the wireless unit. I tried to power it direct from the B&O power supply, but the unit drew too much current, and kept ######ting the Beo down, So I had to settle for running 2 separate power cords. I may still try to house the 2nd power supply inside the Beo if I get around to it. I don't know if there is enough room for it or not.
Opinions ????

Very nice!
How did you get the SBs VFD to be the same colour as the B&Os LED backlights?
Also, i take it you used an SB2 as opposed to an SB3?

You did a great job.
I have exactly the same B&O unit at home. I would appreciate more details and pictures of the 'transplantation'!

I can't say I care much for your taste in music, but the mod looks great! Nice work!

I cant see it being long before B+O steal your idea and make it thier own, thats some excellent work, if you hadnt show it I would have assumed it was stock.

B&O do something similar, although it uses the TV as the interface and only stores music as 192kbs mp3.
Fantasic job though Mr Maker - have you solved the IR control compatibility problem or are you still forced to use 2 remotes?

Thanks everyone !!! It was a fun little project.
I'm sure someone will use the idea for mass production.
B&O will be one of the few companies that have the following for be able to add it and run with it, at the cost at least.
I don't care... (( IT WAS STILL MY IDEA 1ST !!!! )) HAHAHAHAHA
Besides, I had to get a little help from one of the Tech's at B&O to help with the wiring... Wasn't sure what input connection to use on the board, and I didn't want to guess, and fry something. (( STILL MY IDEA )) naa naa na na naa... heheh
RE:
SB-2 or 3... I dono, it's whatever came in the mail
Yub, still (2) remotes... I don't care, it's in my office on the wall, and I use the web interface most of the time anyway.
The (red) face is a piece of red plex I cut. I have a CnC laser, and made the black face plate, and red lense, to match the B&O. Worked out pretty well.
I plan to make a new face using a piece of .030 mirror aluminum, and reface it. I will add a new face to the CD cover as well to match. (one of these days)
