I may get a first generation Squeezebox. I already have a SB3 running Slim Server 6.3 and I am wondering if the G1 is compatible.
Also the hardware comparison page states that the G1 supports transcoded FLAC streams. I am assuming that this means that the Slim Server will have to transcode FLAC to MP3. Can anyone confirm this? Would this effect the SB3 settings at all?
Are there any other "gotchas" when integrating a Squeezebox G1 into a SB3/SS6.3 environment?

No problem at all: I'm using both of them daily.

MP3 or WAV. If you have a wired LAN you might prefer streaming
uncompressed WAV.

No. Except if you want to synchronize the two of them: there might be a
small gap between songs if slimserver has to transcode FLAC files to
WAV/MP3 for the SB1

I think the only other thing apart from Michael's comments is the
wireless side, if you are going to be using wireless. The SB1 is
802.11b, and SB3 is 802.11g (I believe - I don't have one). This may
theoretically downgrade your wireless speed, although from what I
hear, this isn't a given.
