OK, here are a couple of things to try.

    First, look in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\InguzEQ\log.txt

and see if there are any helpful error messages.

Next, try running it from a command line. Here is the command line I used:

    InguzDSP.exe -d 24 -id "01:08:20:09:7b:5a" -r 44100 -wav -be -input "C:\smeg.wav" >nul

There are a couple of points here: I put a wav file (generated earlier with foobar, see some comments above: you could just as easily grab one off a cd) at the location c:\smeg.wav.

Second, in order to use the right device id, look in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\InguzEQ\Settings

    you'll see something like

    01_08_20_09_7b_5a.settings.conf

get rid of .settings.conf, transform the "_" characters to ".", and plug this into the command line above (btw all you evil hackers out there, that is _not_ the actual mac address of my sb ).

Try running this, you might get an error message at the console. Also look in the log.

Hopefully this will get you closer.

OK, I finally got it to work. The problem was I had put the InguzDSP folder in the MSWin32-x86-multi-thread folder as a folder. Once I took the files inside out of it and placed them directly in the MSWin32-x86-multi-thread folder it worked perfectly.

    Thanks for all your help.

Now to go play with it.......

You might want to play with normal.drc a bit. The one I attached to this thread works better for me than the base one.

Actually, being able to define a couple of notch filters at those frequencies, including a notch width parameter, would be ideal. Would this be feasible/possible? The EQ is much too broad an adjustment to deal with modes.

Agreed, the EQ is a very broad-brush approach. This is mostly because my perl skillz aren't yet equal to the task of making a good user interface to proper parameteric-type EQ. You may find easiest to edit the settings file by hand:
    - Use the remote control to get EQ settings approximating what you want
    - Save as a preset "xxxx"
    - Look for the preset file xxxx.preset.conf (in \Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\InguzEQ\Settings)
    - Edit this file with a text editor. You can change the frequency/gain settings or add as many as you want; just be sure they're in ascending order, and that you keep the XML tags in matched pairs.
    - From the remote control: load this preset again.

To approximate a notch filter (although the shape of the frequency response will be a cosine, not a real notch), just have two 0dB frequency points either side of the notch, and set your notch value to (say) -9dB or -12dB.

    Inguz,

Thanks for the neat tip. With 9 bands, I can approximate 3 notch filters! Very cool.

The xxx.drc files are just files, so youo can edit them in Notepad.
drc-2.6.2-src.tar unzips to InguzTools\drc-2.6.2\, containing subdirectories doc, sample, and source. ImpulsePrep is up in the InguzTools directory, and the drc and lsconv .exe are buried in \sample\.

I got it all to work with a directory that looks like this*, then running impulse prep in there. Should I have edited the base directory in the drc files to avoid all this shuffling?

BTW, Wordpad handles formatting of the text files much better, for anyone having trouble with notepad.

    I guess the t-amp doesn't count?

It do, it do. Actually, I think that Bel Canto line is quite excellent.
