I've decided to uninstall and use Nicecast on my Mac instead.
Thanks for all your help, regardless of us being able to get it working.

Can I have another go at getting Alien to work, bpa?
The story so far. It was working - on one channel - tried to fix that with your help and now I have no Alien. I've just tried to go back to what I had before but I'm further away than ever.
I'm on:
Mac 1.42 PPC G4
10.4.11 O/S
Latest Squeezecenter (updated this morning)
Latest Alien (downloaded this morning)
I've tried all the mplayer versions I can find 1.0rc1 and 2 and either let them install themselves or drilled them down to put MPLAYER in US/LOCAL/BIN with Lame
I WAS getting the streams to play for about 8 seconds but they had no sound and went back to 0. Now I'm getting a PROBLEM: CAN'T CONNECT TO SERVER
Can you help? My Squeezebox is only about 60% of it's wonderfulness without Alien.

OK.
Need a baseline to see what is working.
I presume you are running SC 7.0 release or nightly and AlienBBC 2.0 release.
1. Do you have all AlienBBC menus and you can navigate menus and drill down to Listen Again programs.
2. Do you see RTSP entries in Settings/Advanced/FileTypes and if so are the 3 entries they all enabled ?
3. Does mplayer play a BBC live stream OK on a standalone test (i.e. running mplayer in Terminal)
4. What is the current mplayer installation - direct from dmg or have you drilled down and extracted mplayer from lower level directories.

Thank you.
1. Yes, I can see all BBC menus including Listen Again
2. RTSP entries were disabled and are now enabled but still won't connect
3. I've opened Terminal and dragged mplayer into it. How do I check a live BBC stream?
4. The very last mplayer I've tried is osx_1.0rc1.dmg. I double clicked my way through it and it installed itself into Applications

What did you do to get the entries enabled ?2. RTSP entries were disabled and are now enabled but still won't connect
To test mplayer and connectivity through router. Try the following command. The command will work if mplayer is on the path. If it doesn't then use the full path of mplayer. This should play Radio 4 live.3. I've opened Terminal and dragged mplayer into it. How do I check a live BBC stream?
Code:mplayer -playlist http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/realplayer/media/fmg2.rpm
