Expected speed from TS-101 QNAP and Squeezebox 3

    What speed response should I get from a TS-101 400Gb controlled from browser/Squeezebox 3?

I accept I have a large collection and am even willing to cull a lot of music to get a faster response but I would like to know what level this hardware/software set up should provide.

Currently searches are taking over five minutes and I've just clicked on Home to confirm the number of songs I have and it is taking over five minutes too.

Your music library contains 1943 albums with 30182 songs by 5416 artists.

    Any tips or thoughts?

    Thanks for your time

    James

well with 830+ albums and 12000ish tracks mine takes 6 second (roughly, didn't use a stop watch, just counted) to list all the albums.

this is using the 500gig version, although the actual drive shouldn't make a difference

Hmm. I have everything turned off and it still takes a long while - it does get there in the end however.

In my case (Qnap 400 MHz, Slimserver 6.2.2, dlink wap DL-2100) >700 albums) it takes a few seconds. Be sure to switch all servers off, since they could slow things down (especially the web server, it accesses the disk quite often).

By default all servers are disabled, so if you haven't touched them, it's problably something else.

ah. fair enough then. I wasn't worried about the speed, afterall it's a NAS device that wasn't initially designed to run Slimserver.
