I'm sorry - I bet this has been answered before but 15 min of searching and FAQ reading hasn't turned anything up...
while Slimserver is running- it makes a "click click click" similar to what you'd hear when you select a link on a web page using IE. This drives other users crazy- particulary my partner- who keeps shutting the server off to eliminate the annoyance. This, kills my music!
How do you silence the slimserver's clicks? Thanks everyone. John

Well it's not slimservers clicking.. it's IE.
Someone at Microsoft thought you needed a click when a web page loads (or refreshes, which is why you hear it). Their next innovation I think will be a whirring sound while it is actually loading and a ker-chunk sound when it is finished loading.
That will make IE less annoying on other sites, too.To turn off the annoying "click" when exploring/ clicking on hyperlinks, navigate to Start Menu / Settings / Sounds and Multimedia / Sounds. Look for the sound settings: Windows Explorer / Start Navigation and change the selected sound to "none".

This is happening in your _browser_ (no doubt Internet Explorer). The web interface refreshes the status and playlist panes regularly, causing IE to do its little click thing. But the browser doesn't have to be open while running SlimServer and listening to music.
