    Best movies about music

I'll open up with an unconventional one:

    24 Hour Party People

The Manchester/Madchester scene. Joy Division, New Order, The Happy Mondays, etc.

Absolutely awesome acoustic version of "Blue Monday" overlaying the comment from Tony Wilson that "it doesn't matter we're losing money on the single, we're going to sell f*** all."

Andy Serkis (Gollum in The Lord of the Rings and Kong in King Kong) plays legendary producer Martin Hannett.

Now...how long before someone suggests Yellow Submarine, I wonder? :-)

I went to see The Devil and Daniel Johnson recently. Not sure I would class it as "best" but very, very interesting discussion of what happens when musical potential-genius crosses the wafer dividing line between merely eccentric and clearly disturbed.

Whoa - 8.1 on the IMDB!

Clearly you weren't the only one that found it interesting. Usually movies above 7 are worth watching. Movies above 7.5 are must-sees.

    For me, No question:

Tous les matins du monde (All the Mornings of the World) Also an excellent soundtrack played by Jordi Savall.

    Down From The Mountain

Got it on DVD, and i've seen it on TV, but don't think it was ever on a big screen.
