The how to part depends on your OS. But in most cases it's just like any other software that you install.
Since you posted in the SqueezeNetwork forum I wonder if you actually meant "Can SqueezeNetwork be updated?". Short answer: Yes it can. but only by the slimdevices crew. It is at their own discretion to add, remove or change functionality, add bugfixes etc.
