    upgrade failed

I started this thread on Yahoo, but will repost here since that group is
    closing.

I'm trying to upgrade from 4.1b1 to 4.2.6 on a Mandrake 9.2 Linux
system. I can't get the slimp3 service to start. When I do a 'service
slimp3 start' it says [ OK ], but when I do a status it says the service
    is not running.

    it is installed in /usr/local/slimp3

    any suggestions?

continuing the other discussion, let's try this:
as root run service slimp3 stop and make sure this isn't running.

then cd to /usr/local/slimp3 and run ./slimp3.pl

this should show you errors. if you want it to log run ./slimp3.pl
    --logfile /path/to/logfile

let us know how it works out.

and furthermore, if the errors are this sort of thing:
    blah-di-blah at line 3521: can't find Foo/Bar.pm in @INC; @INC includes
    a whole lotta paths.

    Then you do this:
    urpmf Bar.pm

    urpmi the suggested package.

run it from command line with --d_server to see what steps it might die on.

check in /tmp for slimp3.log and delete it (I have had it get locked so an
upgraded server wouldn't be allowed to use it)
