    SoftSqueeze remote control.....does it work?

Hi: I have SlimServer installed on a Linux computer interfacing with three or four Windows clients. They all play music great via SoftSqueeze (or, occasionally, WinAmp) but I can't get the remote(s) that pops up when you press the arrows in the lower left corner of the SoftSqueeze display to do anything. I've read the directions, pressed all the buttons but have concluded that the 'virtual remotes' on my computer screen do not work.....am I correct? Alternatively, how do I get them to work..........if this is a really simple question I'm sorry but I've been at it for an hour with no luck.

Hrrm.. the virtual remote works for me... it wouldn't be very useful if it didn't. Just click on the 'buttons' with the mouse like it was your finger, but I assume you tried that.

    virtual remote ---------button pushing

Well, yes, I did press the buttons - many times. Held the power button down - tried volume, search, whatever whatever got nowhere.

Update: In the meantime I have gone back to WinAmp because the controls on WinAmp work and because SoftSqueeze was hogging 90+ percent of my computer's CPU power and WinAmp uses..... maybe 2 percent.

    Try Jlayer

In case this helps: My softsqueeze was also sucking up 90+% of my cpu. After I went into the preferences and changed the MP3 Decoder from "java mp3" to "jlayer" the CPU hogging problem went away.

Not sure why the keys on the remote don't work for you, though. Mine work (though NOT the volume up and down buttons. They have no impact on the volume).

[QUOTE=BBobley]... changed the MP3 Decoder from "java mp3" to "jlayer"

Wow, best practical piece of advice I heard around here in a ahile, thanks. All of a sudden Softsqueeze is playing songs it refused to play before. Don't ask me why...

    Thanks again!
