    SN: also a stream decoder/encoder?

[After reading and posting for about a week, I bought a SB3. Hurray!]

If I understand it correctly, the slimserver acts as a decoder/encoder for fileformats that the SB not natively supports. So the SS reads the file, and streams it to the SB in a supported format.

If this is true, does the SN the same? Or is the SN just a way to access settings, and to tell the SB to connect to url x?

    Correct.

No. The CPU load on the servers would be too heavy.
