I have just registered a complaint with a forum admin (Dan Sully) about aberdeencomponents. I suggest anyone else who feels his comments are disruptive do the same.Originally Posted by aberdeencomponents

I don't see a reason for a ban either. Maybe some should not be so hypersensitive to criticism and unless there are implied threats or outright stalking and harassment we should live and let live.

I didn't suggest a ban, actually. I simply asked the admin to take a look at his posts, leaving it to him to take any action he thought appropriate, and suggested that others might do the same if they felt aberdeen's comments were inappropriate.
In any case, this isn't very interesting - I hope there are better uses for everyone's time than this.
Edit: I notice that aberdeencomponents (or some admin) has now deleted his most offensive post, so I guess some progress is being made...Last edited by opaqueice; 2006-04-11 at 17:07.

I think the coolest thing is that pretty much anyone can test for themselves whether a linear supply makes a diff in their system to their ears. And it can be done for less than 20 bucks. This is a rare situation, where we can all experiment on the cheap.
I believed [1] I could clearly hear an improvement in sound, particularly in the higher frequencies, with a linear power supply when using my nicest external dac and my fancy Singlepower tube headphone amp and my Sennheiser hd600 headphones. I was -not- able to hear a difference with my jvc digital amp and my alesis studio monitor speakers.
My point is I have three systems, and the difference is only really clear in one of those systems, i.e. the one with the highest resolution. I argue that for some systems, especially loudspeaker systems, you may not be able to hear a difference. Some are inclined to write that argument off, so be it.
For the record I cannot hear a difference in file types, nor in power cords I've tried, though I'd wager that if you got a power cord crappy enough you might.

[1]I say this in the past tense because i've since sacrificed the switcher for its cord and can no longer go back and retest.

This is the first time we've had to do this on the forum, I hope it's
the last.

next time we get into this situation, we'll be banning users, first
