In case anyone cares, I finally got it working by upgrading to the latest mplayer and switching the filetype conversion to wma>flac rather than wma>wav...
I think it was the filetype thing that fixed it, but I'm not sure...
In any event, I'm happily listening to Howard right now!
Thanks to everyone!

I thought I made some progress, but am ending up in the same place...

I had switched routers recently, and in looking the settings, it did not seem to be reporting the DNS server (auto assign from ISP settings) - although all other browsing seemed to work fine. A nslookup with original settings:
C:\Documents and Settings\Jonathan>nslookup www.sirius.com
*** Can't find server name for address 192.168.123.253: Non-existent domain
*** Default servers are not available
Server: UnKnown
Address: 192.168.123.253
Non-authoritative answer:
Name: a467.g.akamai.net
Addresses: 204.2.192.25, 204.2.192.16
Aliases: www.sirius.com, www.sirius.com.edgesuite.net
I subsequently set the router to get DNS from a publicly available site. The same DNS lookup after switching settings:
C:\Documents and Settings\Jonathan>nslookup www.sirius.com
Server: vnsc-pri.sys.gtei.net
Address: 4.2.2.1
Non-authoritative answer:
Name: a467.g.akamai.net
Addresses: 208.45.131.145, 208.45.131.138
Aliases: www.sirius.com, www.sirius.com.edgesuite.net
After renewing the server's IP address, and restarting SlimServer, the ASyncHTTP error messages went away, but I am still ending up with the same problem. It can log into Sirius, and retrieve the channel data (as well as the artist/song title), but cannot play the stream and constantly says "Connecting"
I *can* play the streams from the same server using the Sirius online web page/media player...
Thanks - any help appreciated....
ONE UPDATE:
Looking at the -d_plugin log, it tries to connect to:
2006-06-25 22:43:40.0191 SiriusRadio: gotURL: http://www.sirius.com/sirius/mediapl...kam/octane.jsp[snip]
2006-06-25 22:43:40.0196 SiriusRadio: Playing Stream: Octane:mms://a1548.l1923962041.c19239.n.lm.akamaistream.net
I can successfully tracert to both of these URLs from the SlimServer box, so it doesn't appear as if there is a connectivity issue between my PC and those servers....
Plus, I changed the DNS server on the Squeezebox itself to match what I am using on the router now (4.2.2.1)
Still same result....
ONE OTHER UPDATE:
In looking at the web browser interface for SlimServe, and selecting now playing, I was able to come up with this info:
Title: Alt Nation
File Format: WAV
Location: mms://a29.l1923962044.c19239.n.lm.akamaistream.net/[snip]... (Download)
Date Modified: Sunday, June 25, 2006, 11:28:55 PM
By clicking "Download" I can open this stream in Windows Media Player, and it plays just fine....Last edited by gamehendge2000; 2006-06-25 at 20:30.

2006-06-26, 08:08 #143After your DNS changes have you tried a -d_stream ? As I would have expected, since the stream plays manually via Windows Media Player that indicates the plugin is getting a good URL and that for some reason SlimServer isn't streaming it.

I did increase the timeout (to 360, I believe without effect)... I'll take another look at the -d_stream output. Thanks for helping me work through this....

Thank You!!!!
I installed 6-3-0 and your Sirius plugin just a few minutes ago. It would have been absolutely flawless had I not misunderstood the WMA file types instructions. At first, I turned them all off and was unable to get anything to work.
Then I checked the WMA-Flac checkbox - and everything came together! Works like a charm.
For those that want to try this, I say go for it. Be warned though that the stream that you are getting is relatively low-fi (not the plugin author's fault). It is best used on systems or situations that do not qualify as 'critical listening'.
I can't wait until my 5-year old comes home and finds out that she can listen to Kidstuff in the living room.

I'm wondering if anyone else is seeing this problem. When I try to connect to Sirius, it hangs on "retreiving channels". I have to go to Slimserver, Power off the Squeezebox from the server, re-enter my Sirius Password, and then it seems to work OK for awhile. Could it be something with cache or cookies??
Curius...

2006-07-06, 07:07 #147This is a known issue that is listed on the plugin download page and it also lists an easier fix when it happens. I have some additional debugging code in place to help me catch it, but unfortuantely it hasn't happend on my end since I've added the debugging code. If it happens to you and you have -d_plugin enabled, please post your output. I think the bug has something to do with the order that the async http requests are returned.

New Version: 0.5.6
I went ahead and posted a new version of the plugin. With Sirius's new login/cookie scheme I noticed that logins don't appear to ever expire (which is dumb on their part). Therefore the plugin no longer automatically re-logins after 12hours.
If you've experienced the lockup while retrieving channels bug, this should decrease the probability of that occuring.
I've also regrouped the talk stations back into their own talk genre.
I'm not going to discuss how and please don't do so in the public forums, but based on my comments above it's now "possible" to use/share one Sirius account on multiple servers *simutaneously*...

won't play for more than about 1/2 hour
Hello,
I've just recently downloaded the update, and it did seem to help the "retreiving channels" problem. But I'm having the problem of the music not playing for more than about 1/2 hour. It just quits, but the display stays displaying the song title and artist, indefinitely. I have unchecked/checked the boxes you said to make aure of in the previous posts. Is there anything I can try? Is this a known issue?
