There used to be an old murphy's law public domain piece of code that spouted out a different law from murphy or another technology source every time you ran it.
One of the ones I always liked was: it is a mistake to allow any piece of software or hardware to know you are anxious for the results.

Yeah, I like that one!

I've decided to show it who's boss (or reward it) with the SlimServer update to 6.3.1 and Ultra's latest plug-in All-In-One pack.
Although my problem seems to have mysteriously resolved itself (fingers crossed), it's nice to know you guys are out there with advice, moral support, and daft comments.
Cheers!

I notice those get the fastest response time. We're considering testing some of the forum members for testosterone doping. In particular, there's one guy whose daft comments show up on the forum before the original posting. That guy's definitely using something!
After that, we offer support with dubious morals.
Running a dead last is our advice. Sometimes it's worth taking. Sometimes not.
The good news is, if the daft comments get thrown out of the race for doping, the advice moves up to position 2.
(and in case you can't tell, I'm joking :-) )

Updates
Mornin all
I must say i'm really impressed with the Qnap but it appears to have an issue with updates.
I installed the all in one update and Slimserver 6.2.2 as soon as i got it and all was good. Then i installed the Firmware update off the Qnap website following assurance here that it all works ok.
Everything works fine, and it sleeps when it's supposed to but it doesn't want to accept updates anymore. I want to update to 6.3.1 but when i put it into the updates folder (downloaded from Progressive AV's updates site) and restart it the update is still in the updates folder and slimserver is still version 6.2.2.
Any suggestions chaps or am i missing something?

The TS-101 update page is getting a bit confusing, can I suggest it is grouped and labeled e.g.
Firmware:
Firmware Update v1.1.0 build 0329*
Critical Slimserver updates:
All-In-One Update
SS 6.2.2:
SlimServer 6.2.2
SlimServer Database Clear
SS 6.3.1:
SlimServer 6.3.1
Plugins:
AlienBBC 1.04
Lazysearch v1.1 Plugin
Playlist Manager v1.0 Plugin
Slimscrobbler v0.34 Plugin
Last FM v117 Plugin
Weather 1.7 Plugin
All-In-One Plugin Update for SS 6.3.x
Also, how is the testing of the new firmware going?

you need to use .tar.gz as extension
For the more recent updates like:
-SlimServer 6.3.1
-All-In-One Plugin Update for SS 6.3.x
you need to use .tar as extension (not .tar.gz).
It was mentioned somewhere in this mega thread and it took me hours to find the relevant section.
Hope this helps.

Multiple QNAPs
Paul
I decided to Re RIP all my CDs in Flac. Looks like my 300gb Qnap may be too small. Is the only option to buy a new, bigger capacity QNAP and copy them over, or could I attach another 300gb by USB or SATA then somehow configuring Slimserver to access 2 seperate harddrives
Many Thanks

You can't reconfigure Slimserver for that (without a "hack", anyway), but you don't need to if you can create a link between the new disk and the folder you have configured for music. Do you get to a command prompt in any way, or is there a linking facility in the admin. program?
