If you only try one compressed format, try flac. It's lossless so no
headaches or stiff necks. You get reduced file sizes, metadata, and it's
supported natively by the SB.

Really, your life with your SB would be much easier is you use flac.

Concur.

wav files are huge and they don't support metadata.

flac files are a fraction of the size yet give identical quality and support metadata.

It's a no-brainer.

No matter how many rescan/library wipes I tried, plus a bunch of background manipulations of Name Artist Composer Song Title just to make some sense in the Squeezebox LCD, so I lost faith. Then I began the hard works in Slimserver itself to trick it with some success. I reckon if you got direct SB to Itunes support, I can get about 40 of my friends and co-workers to do a group purchase of SB. As it is now, I don't want them to beat me up out of anger dealing with Slimserver if I recommend it to them.

I was aware of FLAC benefit and will consider it. I worked with computers at work and really did not want to deal with them at home, you know what I mean. It took me 15 minutes to install Itunes and started burning my 500CD collection which took a long time but only another 30 minutes to get all my playlists going, it was actually a ball of fun. I have yet to see any Composer/Genres listings in Slim, they are all lost. Nothing makes sense yet but what the hell, I just play All Songs Shuffled and the sound is superb!
