Early to Mid 70s, they were built from 1971 to 1975.
Marantz Model 2270
I think what I liked about it was tuning it with my thumb only. Tuning Wheel a nice change from a Tuning Knob. Fingers on the side with thumb on the wheel.iPhone

Well it's time I put up my pictures. As you can see this is a truly remarkable system. A team of engineers worked around the clock for 6 weeks.
I just swapped out the AE2s which I was not entirely happy with for these Genelecs which do as well in a giant marble room as any tiny speakers you will find. They lack warmth (obviously), but when synched, the kitchen acts as a giant subwoofer for a reasonable overall effect, save for the gnarly echos whizzing everyhwere thanks to concrete walls, marble floor.
The larger genelecs, by the way, were extraordinarily detailed when I trialed them. Just that these ones can actually be moved. As you can see, I am fairly minimal - the bookshelf system will just be chucked when next I move, but I have to say for $80 bucks it's served its purpose very well
The Genelec speakers themselves were cheap, but the custom stands were very expensive.

Lounge: SB3 + Genelec 6010A | Kitchen: SB3 + $80 bookshelf stereo. Top shelf gear. | Bedroom/Terrace - SB Radio| Headless Asus EEE Box & Linux Mint | iPod touch/iPeng
Traveling: SB Radio.

ADM AVI 9.1 and Duet
Not much to look at really, but that was the idea.
Squeezebox duet connected via optical to the oboard DAC of the
active speakers. No boxes at all.

This is my office setup. I also have a classic at home as my only music source now. At work this works perfectly with being managed by multiple people with the web interface.
Notice our recently purchased Perreaux eloquence 250i integrated amplifier (touted as the most powerful a/b integrated in the world!). We opted for the internal DAC module but haven't had a chance to play with it yet. For storage we use a My Book mirror edition and the server runs on a laptop hidden in the cupboard underneath.
