Maybe I'm doing something wrong but SlimServer ignores my files with DATE tags. It does seem to work with YEAR tags even though that is not an official tag.
I'm using easytag to edit the YEAR of the album and it puts the date in as a DATE tag.
Any ideas?
ps - I tried searching the forum but searching for either date or year seems to return everything. ;-)

User error - nothing to see here.
Ok - so I'm an idiot.
I had both YEAR and DATE in most of my tags. SlimServer would use YEAR if it was present. As soon as I went through and removed all my YEAR tags everything started working properly.
Doh!

I'd actually consider that something of a bug. Since 'DATE' is the "more correct" tag I would think that it should override the other when present. In the Mp3tag tagger that I use there's an implicit translation going on, mostly for id3 tags, but also for YEAR/DATE and TRACK/TRACKNUMBER for vorbis tags. Any time you set 'YEAR' it automatically translates it to 'DATE', and similarly forces 'TRACK' to 'TRACKNUMBER'.
