How do I use multiple hd's?

Is there a way to use multiple hd's (in a non-RAID) configuration on my pc?

Basically I want have some of my music on one hd and some on a second one until I decide what to utlimately do for my storage.

I thought it would be as easy as inserting a shortcut, but it didn't work. Here is what I did:

C:\music is my main folder
E:\more music is my secondary folder

I inserted a shortcut for E:\more music in the C:\music folder and did a rescan on the slimserver.

None of the music that is located in E:\more music was picked up.
