    alienBBC Garble

Another test now and all seems to be well (though I have changed nothing). Go figure. I have had BBC London 94.9 running without a hitch for 80 minutes with slimserver to a Roku Sound Bridge while at the same time playing the regular BBC World Service news (windows media) via SoftSqueeze (this was from Mexico when the UK time was 9:30pm-10:50pm).

    This is great.

    Cheers
    David

It sounds like the problem hasn't gone away. I'll download the new version of Windows Mplayer and run it against my test file to see if it is OK. I find Windows a bit "sticky" when replacing files with ones of the same name - sometimes it seems to take a more than one run to clear the caches.

Having fixed Mplayer, other problems have now shown up with Roku emulation of Squeezebox and this discussion should be kept on the Roku forums.

    Two points.

    1. The current Windows Mplayer.exe on X25systems site does not have the latest patch.

    2. The version of Mplayer currently on Neil's site (www.X2systems.com) seems to be an old version 051004 (i.e.4th Oct 2005). The previous (better) working version was 051015 (i.e.15th Oct 2005) may have been taken off the site in error.

As soon as he has time, I'm sure Neil will post when a new version is available.

I've built a version of Windows Mplayer with my latest patch according to Neil's options.

    http://homepage.eircom.net/~altondsl...mplayerbpa.zip

It works on my test file on Windows and with a live R4.

Thanks Bryan - I'll give it a go now.
Any idea why the executable is 9.5MB? All of the previous versions were around 5.5MB.....

Re: AlienBBC: mplayer release to fixgarbled output

I have heard no problems with the new patch so far. The real test is the
Today program, unfortunately I'm away all week, so I won't be able to
test that for a while yet.

I can't explain the difference in size. I've rebuilt everything and cut & pasted neil's options but I still get the same size. All I can assume I have either some option enabling a function, additional library linked or additional debug info somewhere. It's also possible latest CVS includes some new functionality.

I set up the build environment about a month and it took a weekend and there were a number of options so I assume there are some differences between mine and Neil's. Unless problems show up, I'm not going to chase it down.

I have posted an update to my site: http://www.x2systems.com/alienbbc/mplayer.html. (Sorry for the delay but I have been away.)

I haven't tested this very well but it seems ok. The code is based on the latest CVS copy. I needed to add a couple of lines to the patch as it didn't match the latest copy in CVS.

What version of Mplayer are you compiling ?
Which patch files are you using ?
The gz file is only for pre7 - lots of changes were made between pre7 and current CVS.

Neil said that he had to patch the file - I'm not sure what or why as I did a CVS update.
