Various artists problem

I downloaded the latest nightly of 6.2 on 10/10/05 and I love the new
various artists feature.

However, I am seeing a problem with a number of my albums where the
tracks from a compilation get split across two Albums when listed in the
Various Artists list. About half of my various albums are fine, and the
other half get split, into two typically, but "Coldcut Journeys by DJ"
gets split into four. I can see no obvious reason why. The albums are
all flac.

Is anyone else seeing the same?

I've finally got to the bottom of this, in case anyone else sees the
same problem. There are actually two issues (tested with a nightly build
from 23/9/05).

1) Tag&Rename seems to be setup by default to add an AlbumArtist tag
which is the same as the track artist. This seems to have the effect of
randomly splitting some albums into multiple albums with the same name
in slimserver.

2) If you remove the AlbumArtist tag from all tracks you want to fix,
then running a full scan that clears everything this does not fix the
problem. You need to manually delete the database file.

Continuing the conversation with myself

I think I have finally worked this out, the information below is not
correct. The problem is down to MusicMagicMixer, with this enabled then
for some various artists albums the tracks get split across multiple
albums with identical names.

I noticed some of my compilations getting split, too, but I didn't dig into it enough to connect it with MMM.
