Slimserver 6.2b1 (8/25/2005) crashes after rescan

I just switched from the 6.2b1 nightly of August 18 to the version of August 25 in order to test change 4047 which should resolve bug 1905.

After a rescan slimserver crashes (slimserver is stopped). I reinstalled the August 24 nightly and this works fine after a rescan. After reinstalling the August 25 nightly the same problem happens again. Thus it seems that the problem has been introduced in the latest nightly of August 25.

(I am running the Windows XP version and have the multiple artists in tag option set (separator is &). I further have accented characters in the artist names.)

What does the event view log say?

What is the event view log? Do I have to check one of the checkboxes under debugging?

The Windows Event Viewer (I think that's the name). Under your Administrative start menu.

I found it. I deleted all previous entries. After a rescan Slimserver crashed and the following entry appeared in the even viewer (under system):

    Fehler(=error) 25.08.2005 17:32:59 Service Control Manager Keine(=none) 7034 Nicht zutreffend(=not applicable) WIN145

    Any ideas?

I further recognized that all my VA albums are no longer shown as VA albums. The section Various Artists does no longer exist. Since I cannot make a rescan I do not know whether a rescan would help.

When you report this kind of thing, please try to include the actual
crash message. Even saying you can't find one is useful. In windows,
the Event Viewer will often show this crash. Start->settings->control
panel->administrator tools->even viewer. Look in the application log.
Perhaps there should be a sticky item on 'what to do if I've had the
server crash'. Assuming people read stickies.

There is no crash message. Slimserver simply stops running. I have already posted the events from the event viewer in the previous post.

I believe I fixed this problem this morning (US/Pacific) - it will be in the
2005-08-26 nightly - or sync up with Subversion.

    Smile

The crash is indeed fixed with the 2005-8-26 nightly. Thanks Dan
