    Feature request - guessing tags

I use my SB2 (love it) primarily to play (legal) downloaded concert recording (live music archive, etree, etc). As such, I don't like to mess with the fingerprint of the files by adding tags, etc, in case I want to share them.

So I use the "guess tags" feature to index my library. Most of the filenames are in the format bandnameyyyy-mm-dd. It would help if the guess tags feature could recognize the y, m and d and populate tags accordingly.

My regexp skills and time are extremely limited. Does anyone have thoughts on an easy way to implement this?

    TIA

Hate to be a pain, but is my logic so mucked up that this doesn't even merit a response?

(Even though that probably sounds like it, I'm not trying to be pushy or annoying, but if I missed something obvious, I'd appreciate someone pointing it out).

    I appreciate your comments.

    Thanks,
    ashton

hmmm the feature is already there, i think that's why people didn't respond.
Go to SlimServer \ server settings \ formatting at the BOTTOM.
Of course, it's not gonna be perfect.
You can gen tags using file name info if you use a software like Tag&Rename.

Re: Feature request - guessing tags

on your original post it's not clear what you are trying to do. there are no
month and day tags as such, only year. just use something like ARTIST -
YEAR - ALBUM, and put the month and date info in the album field if you want
to see it. be careful that you don't have different albums with the same
album name though, as slim will see these as the same album i think.
