If i am streaming to mulitple devices, can i control the volume of each unit though the browser interface?

hardware devices, yes
softsqueeze, yes
other software devices (winamp, xmms, itunes), no

Yes. If you have multiple squeezeboxes, you'll see a dropdown box at the top of the right hand panel (the "music player") in which you select which of the boxes you are controlling. You can then manipulate the volume and the playlist as you wish for that player. Is that what you were looking for?

multiple
can i have one stream going to mulitple devices..i.e..one playlist playing to 2 devices...and still control each devices audio?

Not sure if I'll beat kdf to it this time but I'll try...
If the devices are squeezeboxes or softsqueezes, yes, you can synchronise them so they have the same playlist. You then have further options as to whether you want the volume and poer on-off synchronised or independent.

just be sure to note, this isn't really a shared stream. it is multiple streams
timed to play at the same time.
