Newbie problems with flac and Nas

I just got my squeezebox2 nice unit. I swapped out a Roku for it good choice I think. I am having two problems though. First I used EAC to to rip a CD using flac for external compression. It created a bunch of .wav files slimserver would not see them changed the extension to .fla and FLAC neither were seen. Then tried Nero to Rip the same cd tried the same extensions. Slimserver still would not see them. I rescanned several times, played with the checkboxes in File Types. Nero and Foobar2K played the files fine as did FLAC frontend. When I check the dir I see the top level and when I Push down... nothing

Slimserver should certain find WAV files. They are not the same as
FLAC however, so renaming them will not play properly. EAC should have
converted the WAV to FLC files as part of the rip and compress. Since
this did not happen, you will want to go back and check your procedures
    for ripping and encoding.

Do these files have any non-latin characters in the file name? There
have been some issues of late in dealing with the combination of
systems, ripping and encoding setups. You don't mention which server
version you are using. Have you tried the latest nightly build at
    http://www.slimdevices.com/downloads/nightly/latest/

The builds there are nearing a full release level of 6.1 and contain
many improvements on character sets and performance over 6.1b2

    cheers,
